When you laugh or cry, smile or frown, squint or raise your eyebrows, small lines slowly begin to to show on the skin. Over the years, these lines deepen and become permanent. Sometimes, these lines can make you appear angry, even if you are not.

In essence, Botulinum relaxes the muscles which prevents them from tensing and thereby creating wrinkles on the face. There are three commercially available products, Botox™, Xeomin™ and Dysport™.

Fillers

As we age, our skin inevitably loses its youthful appearance as the production of natural dermal volumizers and moisturizers such as hyaluronic acid (HA) diminish, leaving lines and wrinkles where our skin was once youthful, even and radiant. Soft tissue dermal fillers are used to restore volume and fill in facial wrinkles. Other factors that affect the facial skin include sun exposure, heredity, and lifestyle.

Dermal fillers can be used to:

  • Plump thin lips
  • Enhance shallow contours
  • Soften facial creases and wrinkles
  • Improve the appearance of recessed scars

Dermal fillers can be very helpful in those with early signs of aging, or as a value-added part of facial rejuvenation.  Common uses include filling in the nasolabial folds and fine lines above the lips.  Acne scars can be softened and lips can be plumped. They are slowly reabsorbed over time. On average, these dermal fillers can last from 6 months up to 2 years
